Remember, the Guide outlines all of the assignments, what follows is an update/review of what took place in class and gives a quick glance into the upcoming assignments.


Math:
Algebra ½ Students: Keep up the good work.  This week complete Lessons 29 - 32.

Logic:
The lights are going on for many with Logic and I'm truly excited!!!  Thanks for all the extra effort being put into this subject!  We discussed Lessons 21 - 23 and you should complete Exercises 20 and 21.   

Literature:
As in A Gathering of Days: A New England Girl's Journal 1830 - 1832, you will maintain a journal this week.  Remember you're writing from the perspective that a teenager in the year 2400 A.D. will find it and gather information about your life in 2010 and your beliefs.  As this may be rather personal in some instances, it will not be turned in.  However, each person will read at least one excerpt from it aloud and I will check it to make sure you maintained it for an entire week.

History of Science:
WOW!!!  The experiments for the Morse Code went really well.  Thank you for all the effort put into this.  It helped to make it a really interesting class!  The Guide states that you are to write (2) papers this week, however, we split the assignment up amongst the group and half will research Marie Curie's life and achievements; while the other half will research the Periodic Table and how it works.


Current Events:
Well, this was the sore spot of the day.  After beginning the debate, we changed teams and had a good discussion.  However, by the end of the class, the noise, side-bar discussions and chitter-chatter became so overwhelming that we couldn't discuss next week's topic.  With that in mind, I ruled that you would have to write a 700 word paper on the church's persecution in the U.S.  However, after much thought and mercy, I've decided to allow you to simply research the topic as we did in the beginning.  IF you follow through and we can agree that today's situation will not be repeated, we will break into teams on Tuesday and attempt to debate.

Latin:
This was another area of victory today!  I am glad to say that for many, the lights have begun to shine and you're beginning to understand it.  Remember, Latin is a memory subject.  There's no way around it!!!  You should spend at least 15 - 20 minutes practicing the vocabulary; another 10 - 15 minutes working on your charts; and another 10 - 15 minutes reviewing rules and/or completing the lessons assigned.  It's the only way to master it.  Work on your Declension Sheets for the (6) vocabulary words, your Declension Table endings, and review all the info in Chapters 1 - 10 so that we can build upon it.
